Everyone has a different body type and figuring it out can ultimately help you save time shopping, getting dressed and obviously make it easier to look good. I am really excited to teach you, girls, How to dress for your body type.

A few weeks ago Sarah of PrincessAudu.com brought I and a few other awesome Abuja bloggers together to help you guys figure out how to dress for your body types. Apart from the fact that I knew I was petite, I didn’t really know my body type until Sarah mentioned it to me and I also confirmed it that after I did my research.

  Apple Shaped:

If you have an apple shaped body, you have broad shoulders, a full waist, and thinner legs.

You can wear full skirts, wide leg pants, and jackets that hide all your widest parts, you can also wear tops with extra volume so it does not add any imbalance to your legs.

 Rectangular shaped:

If you are rectangular shaped, it means your shoulders, waist, and hips are roughly the same size. Sarah and Onyinye are both rectangular shaped.

The trick to look good is to create extra volume on one half of your body that will help create the illusion that you have lots of curves. Wearing high waisted jeans, pants and waist belts over your dresses is definitely something you should always do.

 Pear Shaped:

You have broad shoulders, a full waist, and thinner legs.

You should wear full skirts, wide-leg pants, and jackets that hit at your widest parts. Also wear tops with extra volume so it does not add any imbalance to your legs. Eno is pear-shaped.

 How to dress for your body typeHour Glass Shaped:

If you are hour glassed shaped, your shoulders and hips are roughly the same sizes and you have a smaller defined waist.

Wear anything that defines your waist, look for belted dresses, bodycon dresses, wrap dresses and peplum styles that focus on your narrow waist.

I am hourglassed shaped and if you notice I always wear tight and fitted outfits. My mum always says she doesn’t understand why I wear fitted clothes that show how extra petite I am lol! but I always didn’t want my clothes to swallow me.

Knowing your body type helps a lot because you can always know what suits you and works for you. But remember to always wear whatever you are comfortable in as long as you are happy.

    Lol Larisa well at least going away from this collaboration you now know your body type. Thanks for being a part of this. And overall when it comes down to fashion, being comfortable in what we wear is too key to miss.

    I finally get the chance to read your post, after trying to open your website several times.

    Nice post, it was great hanging with all of you. Now, I know my body type too. Loved that yellow on you!
