Five misconceptions about bloggers

five misconceptions about bloggersfive misconceptions about bloggersfive misconceptions about bloggersPeople always ask me, what do you really gain from blogging, how do you make money, isn’t it just to take pictures and post? that’s not a proper job.

While blogging can be both fun and rewarding, It’s important we look at the misconceptions that circulate the internet.

1. Blogging is easy

This is one of the most common misconceptions and I need people to know that blogging is a job on its own. Only bloggers know the actual struggle of the amount of time, effort that was put into every post. I cant even begin to talk about dressing up on a Saturday, going around looking for perfect backgrounds and changing outfits in cars so you can post three times a week or the late nights editing of photos.

Also how blogging requires a great deal of research, writing and marketing and so much more that goes unnoticed. However if it is your passion then this things comes easy and you will enjoy the process but it is definitely not easy to push myself and content.

2. Your life is perfect

lol! I always tell people, do not envy and wish you had others peoples lives because bloggers are humans as well, you don’t see when we cry, when we are sad and what we are going through.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my life and I know a few people that are bloggers and are super open and I know we are guilty of showing the most amazing parts of our lives either to inspire or show our creativity but we do have bad days and No one has a perfect life I promise.

 3. Bloggers need to get a real job

I have had people tell me, why am I investing so much in blogging and how I should get a proper side job and I tell them I am investing in my future, and blogging is a job. I remember few weeks ago a senior lawyer told me I should better stop ‘that nonsense blogging’ and focus on law lol.

A lot of people do not know that blogging is a job on its own that you can make so much money from, meet a lot of people and get amazing opportunities. Just Google Chiara ferragni, Aimee song and for Nigeria, Linda Ikeji, Sisi Yemi and others.

4 Bloggers Make a lot of Easy Money

Just like any other job, If effort and time is not put into it, then you would not make any single money from blogging. Also for new bloggers, do not start a blog to make money because you will be disappointed real quick. Instead start because you love it and have a voice and money comes afterwards.

5 Bloggers are braggarts and are milloniares

People often assume that bloggers who show case their belongings on their blogs and social media do it for the sake of bragging, which is completely untrue. while we posts nice outfits, places we go to, what we do, we are doing it for the purpose of sharing with our readers and it in no way means we are bragging or millionaires.

I don’t know about others but I share because I want my readers to learn a thing or two, know nice places to visit that are affordable and live an amazing life without breaking the bank.

These are the Five misconceptions about bloggers I think are quite popular.

I know a lot of bloggers can relate to this post in every way.

What misconceptions do you have about bloggers? and for bloggers, what is the weirdest question people ask you about being a blogger?

If you are wondering what restaurant this is, It’s called easy bite at wuse 2, in Abuja.

These are so true. And for these reasons, people don’t take bloggers seriously. Some even just want to use them, sadly.
However, there are people and even brands who are gradually acknowledging bloggers. We can only hope that escalates quickly.
And some bloggers on their parts need to stop slacking as that encourages the *bloggers are not serious people* stereotype. Just do you and ignore all the distractions in the blogsphere.

Very true; blogging is even harder than must jobs nowadays; you have to figure out ur self and be creative about it; it just like starting a new business or even trying to write an hit song. Nothing is easy; Blogging is a talent on his own. And like every talent it pays like mad, only when you develop and grow ur talent.
    Nice piece dear

I totally agree with all the points discussed. Some people seem to think since bloggers dress so nice they must make a lot of money, have perfect lives and at millionaires which isn’t true. Most blogs just start from the love of blogging and other interests.
